Many teenagers are worried about straightening their smile without feeling self-conscious. However, with today’s braces alternatives, there is no need to worry. There are a variety of braces readily available for your teen, such as clear aligners, your teen can now choose the method in which they want to correct their smile.

Clear Aligners

In order to help your teen to feel more self confident, clear aligners have become a great option, especially when it comes to their traditional metal counterparts. Not only are clear aligners clear, but they are more comfortable, and removable.

Clear aligners treatment consists of a series of progressively changing aligners that are worn for a couple weeks that are precisely made with exact calculations to shift your teeth into their ideal position. This will ensure you have a straighter, healthier smile, improving your alignment and bite.

There are many benefits to wearing clear aligners, including the following:

  • They can be removed prior to eating, allowing you to eat whatever foods you want.
  • You can brush and floss your teeth normally for better periodontal health.
  • They are clear, making them virtually unnoticeable.
  • They are made of smooth acrylic, making them more comfortable to wear.
  • No need to tighten them.
  • Faster results!

In order for clear aligners to be effective, they must be worn 22 hours a day, and be cleaned regularly. Since clear aligners do require a lot of discipline and commitment, these may not the best option for teens that will not be consistent and need extra guidance.

Traditional Braces

Treatment with traditional braces consists of using metal brackets that are glued to your teeth, and tied together by using wires and rubber bands. While traditional braces will get the job done effectively, they often cause treatment to be more complicated, especially when it comes to the health of your mouth, especially cleaning and flossing your teeth during treatment.

With metal braces, you do have options to either have brackets that more closely match the color of your teeth, or you can personalize them with colored rubber bands, creating your own personal fashion statement.

Traditional braces have been around for many years, and have always done the job right, straightening your teeth, and eliminating crowding, spacing, cross bites, overbites and underbites.
